Andre Dawson
I built a team of players that I did not made the Hall of Fame. Some of these baseball players deserve entry into the sacred shrine. In my opinion, Jim Rice, Andre Dawson and Dave Parker should have their faces bronzed in Cooperstown NY. Their total number compares very favorably to players who have made in Cooperstown.
This is my list of near Hall of Fame
First Base: Dick Allen had six years he has hit over 30 homers and six years more than 90 RBIs. I loved watching him play for the Phillies. I remember people doing a problem because he used a stick 40 ounces. Considered an extremely heavy hit in its day.
Second baseman Joe Gordon also had six strike in more than 90 rounds. At one time, nine All Star and in 1942 he won the American League MVP. He hit 253 home runs in his career. I often thought about what motivated the Yankees to negotiate such a great baseball player. His career lasted all of 11 years.
Short Stop Dave Concepcion won five gloves Gold playing on some great teams the Cincinnati Reds. As a nine time all star has played his entire career with the Reds. I never remember to look make a mental error. He always seemed to know what to do on the field.
Craig Nettles third baseman has been one of my favorites. A player Field enormous. It swallows everything hit his way. There was a time every six stars. He finished his career with 1314 RBI and 390 circuits.
Catcher Joe Torre won the National League Batting Title and was five when he had over 100 RBIs. In 1971, he knocked in 137 runs and won the title NL MVP. A member of one of the few collectors who has never won a batting championship. Nine-time All Star.
Outfielder Andre Dawson had 1591 points product career. Seven of those seasons, he has accumulated at least 90 RBIs. Her trademark high is 137 RBIs in 1987. Andre amassed 438 home runs in his career with one season best 49 in 1987. He also won the Nation League MVP in 1987.
Outfielder Joe Jackson played until when he was 30 years. He has averaged 370 or five times. It has the third highest lifetime batting average at.356. It struck just 158 times in 4981 at bats. An incredible player.
Outfielder circuits do not tell the story of how good he was. I thought it was a great hitter. An eight-time all star.
I took the liberty of making an outfielder Dave Parker DH. Why is not my list. Dave led in 1493 runs. With 10 years of at least 90 RBIs. He accumulated 526 doubles and was a seven time all star. In 1978 he was NL MVP.
Pitcher Tommy John had a career year 26. His 288 victories rank in record time. He missed the entire 1975 season for what is now called Tommy John Surgery.
Pitcher Vida Blue had a lifetime 3.27 era. He won the MVP and Cy Young Award in 1971, when an era was 1.82. A six all star he won 209 games in his career.
Relief pitcher Rich Gossage had a 3.01 era life. With 310 lifetime saves I still remember him Blazing the ball when the opposition launched for the Yankees. Nine-time All Star and a formidable competitor.
So there you have it. Some impressive players was so close to making the Hall of Fame.
